About Us
The Waskom Quilt Guild has been in effect for many years. We meet on Thursdays. The 1st Thursday of every month is our business meeting
and other Thursdays are for sewing, special projects and quilting. At our meeting we always have a devotion, refreshments, fat quarter drawings, birthday surprises and door prizes. We also support a variety of charities. Please see the calendar of events of our guild as well as events of interest to quilters in our area. |
On April the 5th, the Quilt Guild angels made over 100 Scarman dolls. The Scarman doll is blank and allows children to create their own representation of unique character traits and appearance, including scars and blemishes. Every doll becomes a one-of-a-kind creation, helping the children to love and accept themselves – and others – just the way they are.
The dolls were made for the children suffering from arthrogryposis, including Reba Burkhalter’s granddaughter, Lindsey. Arthrogryposis is a congenital joint contracture in two or more areas of the body. It derives its name from Greek, literally meaning “curving of joints.” |
